To solve this, the government initiated a massive tender for the new Yangi Bukhara International Airport in March 2026. Key features of the project include:

• A brand-new 48,500 square meter passenger terminal.
• Capacity to handle 1,600 passengers per hour across international and domestic flights.
• Advanced support facilities, including modern catering, cargo, and a large-scale fuel storage complex.

This project is designed to make Bukhara an independent entry and exit point for international travelers, significantly reducing the reliance on connecting flights through Tashkent or Samarkand. As these logistics improve, Uzbekistan is poised to solidify its role as a premier gateway to the Silk Road.
